Wireless Security Systems

Home security is made up of both the actual security hardware installed in a home and people’s individual security practices. Basic security hardware generally consists of deadbolts, glass break detectors, motion sensors, lighting, alarms, and video surveillance systems. Each of these items has its own benefits and drawbacks. A person must consider which type of security system they want before making a selection.

Alarms are devices that will alert a person and/or building to an invasion or breach of their property. There are two types of alarms: wired and wireless. Wireless alarms typically need to be connected to a power source, while hardwired alarms can operate off of a battery. Some devices require no connection to electricity and therefore do not have to be attached to a source of power.

One example of a wireless smart home alarm is the Alarm Network’s App. The Alarm Network’s App (also known as the Door Knob Alarm) is an iPhone and iPod compatible device that send silent, vibrating alerts when doors or windows are opened while the app is installed. It is simple to install and only requires a one time installation fee. Once it is installed, it will monitor all doors and windows in the vicinity of the user’s current location. Upon detecting an opening, the vibration alert will sound, followed by a text message or an email to the user’s cell phone. The text message will also inform the user if there is a breach in the security system.

Another example of an iPhone and iPod compatible home security system is the Z sovereignty Alarmist Pro. This control panel comes with four different models of motion detectors, which are Zig Zag Infra red, orange, green, and blue. These motion detectors can detect either moving or slow-moving objects. There are also control panels available that can detect movement or heat sources. With these devices, a homeowner will not have to worry about trying to disarm the system because the Z Sovereignty Alarmist Pro will automatically disarm the system upon a detected motion or heat source.

For homeowners who are interested in wireless protocols, there are three good choices. The first option is the Alarm Sensor Kit, which includes wireless protocols for nine different sensors. These sensors include door and window contacts, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, door chimes, infrared cameras, and magnetic door contacts. The kit can be connected to a home security system using a serial cable, or it can be connected to an existing alarm system using a telephone adapter. The advantage of using this kit with an existing alarm system is that existing code could be verified before relay to the new sensor. The kits come with cables and connectors for mounting to the exterior.

The second option is the Z-Star AlarmPro security system bundle, which uses Zig Zag Infrared motion sensors. These sensors are designed to detect heat patterns and changes in motion, which makes them ideal for use with an existing security system. The integration of these sensors with the Z-Tag software makes for a simple configuration and installation process, with no need for a central control panel or telephone line connection. Just like the Z Sovereignty Alarmist Pro, the bundled package comes with mounting hardware and cables for mounting on the outside.

The third option is the optional Branded Safety Panel, which can be used instead of a Z-steen Alarm Panel. The Branded Safety Panel features seven doors and window sensors along with the infrared detectors. These panels are connected to a circuit that sends the signal to a Z-steen Alarm panel, which will trigger the arming sequence of the sensors. Like the Z-steen Panel, installation is easy and there is no need for a central control panel.

The installation process of wireless security alarms offers homeowners a number of protection options against potential burglars. With a reliable home alarm system in place, homeowners can rest easy knowing that their property is protected. This gives them peace of mind and a decreased risk of being the victim of a burglary, fire or other damage caused by break-ins. With the many added benefits, such as reduced burglars and false alarms, homeowners can feel confident that their property is safe.
